We asked Penelope Pratsou why choosing her is the right decision when you are experiencing issues with your skin.
Why should you choose me to guide you with your skin problems?
I also have a lot of experience in skin cancer, assessing skin lesions and doing skin surgery, but it’s not just about that.
Penelope Pratsou: You want to see someone local to you, who is accessible and who can see you with good availability. You also want to to feel heard because that’s what I’d like to do.
I’d like to be able to offer you an appointment when you need to, and for you to be seen for as long as you need to, for long enough for us to be able to sort out the problem that you’ve come to see me with.
What I want someone to feel like when they’ve come to see me, is that they feel well looked after, they feel they’ve had the time that they need, at the time that they’ve needed it. They also feel that they’ve left from that first consultation knowing what’s going on with their skin, knowing what the plan is and why we’re doing what we’re doing, and knowing exactly how to use their treatments. I like people that come to see me to feel like they’ve regained some control back with regards to their skin. That’s why I think, if you’d like that too, please book-in and come and see me, so that we can discuss your skin further.
If you notice that you have any of the symptoms or conditions that we’ve just discussed, we invite you to book a consultation with Dr Penelope Pratsou. She’ll be able to assess your situation and give you a personalised treatment plan.
About the author
Dr Penelope Pratsou | Consultant Dermatologist
MBChB, MRCP (UK) (Dermatology)
I’m Dr Penelope Pratsou, a skilled independent Consultant Dermatologist based in Berkshire. I have specialist expertise in the diagnosis and management of all skin cancers, and in performing mole checks. I’m a trained skin surgeon and remove skin cancers, moles, skin tags, cysts and warts.
I also have invaluable experience in dealing with all skin conditions, from the common skin complaints of acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis, to the rarer and more complex skin problems, having seen it all through years of NHS work.
After I obtained my Membership to the Royal College of Physicians, I undertook rigorous specialist training in dermatology, before being appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. There, I helped set up and lead a busy clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of suspected skin cancer. I was also actively involved in supervising and training both dermatology and GP trainees.
Alongside my increasingly busy private practice, I have maintained an NHS practice in Oxford in order to continue to engage with challenging cases and to develop my specialist interest in skin allergy.
